Macbeth

Macbeth was written from William Shakespeare in 1606. Our school class visits a play that was mounted by the English Theatre. Macbeth is one of Shakespeare’s greatest plays. It is divided in five parts and is a tragedy. The English Theatre performed the play with four actors. The main characters in the play are Macbeth, Lady Macbeth, King Duncan and Malcolm his son.

The play starts with Macbeth and Banquo. Macbeth is renowned for his success in the battle for King Duncan. Three witches appear in front of Macbeth and Banquo. The witches tell Macbeth that he will be king instead of Duncan. When Lady Macbeth hears about the prophecy she urges Macbeth to kill Duncan. By the next visit of Duncan Macbeth kills the king. Duncan’s son Malcolm flees. Later they kill Banquo too. The king is anxious that Banquo could get the throne.
In the meantime Malcolm comes to England and starts to plan the attack on Macbeth.
Macbeth has hallucinations and Lady Macbeth goes to be mad and dies. In the wood the three witches tells Macbeth that he would lose the crown when a man who isn’t born from a woman wants to kill him. Macduff a thane of Scottish went with Malcolm to England. Macduff wasn’t born from a woman, only taken out of his mother’s womb. In the final Macduff kills Macbeth and Malcolm is the new and right king of Scotland.

Macbeth mounted by the English Theatre is a badly produced play between betrayal and suspicion.
It was really disappointing that there were only four actors for such a dramatically play with much characters.
