If you have ever read or seen „Harry Potter” by J. K. Rowling, you know he is a very famous boarder. Maybe he is the most famous in the world. To be a boarder means living at school and leaving school only for holidays. Maybe it’s nice to live like Harry Potter, but I think sending children to boarding school is wrong. First it’s difficult for parents. They have to give away their own child and let it be trained by unknown people. This is not easy for them and can deteriorate the relationship between a child and its parents. So you can see it’s not aspiring for the children, too. They are nearly captured in their school what you can see at the multiplicity of rules and prohibitions. And if they miss their parents very much, which is not surprising, there is no possibility to see them except in the holidays. Another point is that the teachers and educators in boarding schools try to replace the parents. But they can’t do it, because they don’t know the pupils well enough. You don’t need parents only for your education, you need them because they take care for you and give you some sense of security. In fact boarding schools are maybe the right way for children without an intact family or parents, like Harry Potter, but for everyone else I would recommend normal schools.
